How many SMPS for a rating you choose?
All standard SMPS at the strip voltage
How it is calculated
- Load per metre (W/m) = LEDs per metre × W per LED. Total load (W) = W/m × length.
- Current (A) = Total load (W) ÷ Voltage (V).
- SMPS: loaded to at most 80% of its rating, so Required rating = Load ÷ 0.8. Next standard size up is chosen (100, 150, 200, 240, 300, 400 W).
- If one 400 W unit is not enough, the load is split equally over the fewest units.
- Dimmer: each SMPS gets its own dimmer. Dimmer rating ≥ Current of that SMPS ÷ 0.8, from standard sizes 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 A.
- The SMPS and dimmer voltage must equal the strip voltage. Do not join two SMPS outputs to one dimmer.
